French Car Brands | The Best of French Cars
Over the years, the French car brands have had ups and downs as well as big hopes to become a leader for all vehicles. Currently French car makers sell their cars across Europe making the French car brands well known but not globally.
The best European cars are somtimes French models because French car brands have won awards mutiple times for making best cars of the year...etc. Depending on where you live, you may recognize these brands but we do not have them in Canada for example.
PSA Peugeot Citroen
Peugeot + Citroen are some of the most famous French car brands and are known all around Europe. They have not entered the North American Market in a strong way. The company started in 1976 and is now the second largest car manufacturer in Europe. The two brands are Peugeot and Citroen and can be found in parts of Asia as well. Naturally the headquarters are at Paris. They are strong in Europe but not as much as the Volkswagen Group.
Venturi had bankruptcy in 2000 and was then bought out. They focus mainly on manufacturing luxury-electric-vehicles and have motorcycles since 2009 when they bought Voxan.
A company known well in Asia for 40 years already. It started in 1899. Renault is one of the big French car brands and was founded by the 3 Renault family engineers. Those three guys managed the company well and it has grown to 3 million units per year selling cars in Europe and Asia.
this company died with it's founder in 1963 but we discuss it here because it was revived by VW. Bugatti is a French car brand that had a great history in the early years and is known to make luxury and high-performance cars. Ettore Bugatti (founder) made beautiful French cars that have won races.
Alpine made French cars using Renault engines until 1995. Now, they have a joint venture called Societe des Automobiles Alpine Caterham that procudes Alpine.
