Japanese Car Brands - The Best Of Japanese Cars

Japanese car brands surprised the American And European auto brands when they gained a lot of market share. Their reputation for "long lasting quality", made them highly desirable and allowed their owner to maintain the value of the car for longer (low depreciation) compared to American cars. This reliability and fuel economy made these popular Japanese car brands what they are today. This success allowed companied like Honda to start luxury divisions like Acura in 1986. The car brands in Japan make 9 million cars annually putting them in the top 10 in the world.

The history of such car brands in Japan is fascinating when you look models they created for rich and poor. Japan makes the best cars according to some people and these Japanese car brands discussed below will be familiar to all.

Daihatsu

Mr. Daihatsu founded a city named Osaka and this car maker incorporated the name into its car brand abbreviation. Daihatsu made small Japanese cars and some of the common models they manufacture are Cuore, Terios, Gran Max, and Sirion. Some of the cars look great and modern despite their small size. Even the SUVs are small while I find some of the Trevis models look like the mini cooper.

Honda Motors is a top seller car brand in the world. They are known for reliability and problem-free ownership. his extremely good reputation is shared only by Toyota. Honda makes Sedans and SUV but their luxury line goes by the name "Acura". The popular Honda's Accord, Civic, CR-V and Odyssey. Civic is the number one car in the world and is matched only by Toyota Corolla. The downside of Honda Civic is that it is highly demanded by car thieves. The Acura MDX is very expensive and a huge SUV to drive. An interesting fact about Honda is that they made a Robot that can dance and walk (Asimo).

The slogan for Mazda has been zoom-zoom. This is meant to inspire a feeling that they will take you into the future as I see it. Mazda is headquartered in Fuchu, Japan and has its name from "Ahura Mazda" which is a supposed 'west asian god'. Again the logo is meant to be an icon flying M (Mazda) into the future. The Sky Activ Technology that you hear about in their ads is a technology which increases fuel economy.

Mitsubishi

Mitsubishi makes air conditioners and other appliances but Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese car manufacturer. This Japanese Auto Brands started in 1917 but only got into the US market in 1981. They are known for great warranties and their electric cars. The Eclipes and Lancer are loved by car enthusiasts and drag racers.

Back in 1957 Toyota entered the US market but was not popular at first because muscle cars were the trend back then. But now they are a top-selling brand in America. Of course, the Corolla and Camry make the best Japanese car models. They were known for reliability and a trouble-free history until a few years ago when they had multiple recalls around 2009. The luxury brand for Toyota is Lexus and is made in Japan.

Subaru us a car manufacturing division for FHI. This Japanese car brand is part of this conglomerate known as Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI). They are a little picky about their customers so their number of units sold is not as high as the other Japanese automakers. This puts Subaru as 22nd position in 2012 globally. They use a "boxer engine layout" and one of the things that makes them different is that all their cars are "all-wheel drive". This company started in July 7 1953 but only made their first car in 1954. It was the "Subaru 1500". Note that Toyota Motor Corporation owns 16.5% of FHI and that the three successful car models for Subaru as Forester, Impreza, and Outback.
